Marilia Savvides is a literary agent in the Books Division at 42 and is a graduate of UCL and the Columbia Publishing Course in New York. She spent seven years working at Peters Fraser + Dunlop and joined 42 in early 2020.
She is incredibly lucky to work with brilliant authors across a range of genres, including crime and thriller, upmarket, grounded horror, reading group, upmarket general fiction and some grounded sci-fi. On the non-fiction side she represents memoir and select narrative non-fiction. Her list includes authors such as Hanna Jameson, Jessica Moor, James Delargy, Bexy Cameron, Joeli Brearley and Tauriq Moosa. She was a Bookseller Rising Star in 2018.
She is generally most drawn to dark tales that weave together excellent characters and an impossible-to-put-down story, and is extremely passionate about discovering new voices and working with them editorially, helping authors shape their manuscripts and perfect their ideas. Marilia is looking forward to discovering new voices and lending support and advice to emerging Asian women writers.
She’s currently on the hunt for high-concept thrillers, upmarket crime, upmarket horror, reading group and speculative, genre-bending fiction. No Fantasy please! She’s also interested in memoir. In the reading group space she’s most interested in fiction in the vein of Celeste Ng, Jodi Picoult, Liane Moriarty and Brit Bennett.
Marilia is available for consultations and submission assessments.
